Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc. (GFNI) is a corporation listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange since 2006 whose subsidiaries include the Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC).
PGMC operates the Cagdianao Nickel Expansion Project mine with an area of 4,376 hectares. Upon celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016, the company also received ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management Systems.
With seven known lateritic nickel deposit sites referred to as the Cagdianao Areas, PGMC has set the world record of shipping one of the largest annual production volumes of 6 million wet metric tons (WMT) from a single mining project. Currently, its maximum allowable nickel ore production per year is 7.69 million WMT.
It is now the second-largest nickel ore exporter in the Philippines, accounting for 11% of the country’s nickel ore production in 2015, according to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. To date, PGMC has delivered an aggregate of over 37 million WMT of nickel ore to its customers.
